Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is a reflexology protocol that focuses on the lymphatic reflexes in the feet. While it was specifically designed to help breast cancer clients suffering from secondary lymphoedema of the arm following breast cancer surgery, RLD may also be useful for relieving discomfort caused by the following conditions:

For millennia, stones, both hot and cold, have been used in ceremonies, rituals, and massage. The practice dates back 5000 years in India and was later adopted by the Chinese to treat certain diseases. Native Americans have used hot stones in their sweat lodges and Hawaiian people have long used hot basalt stones for both physical and spiritual healing.
The use of hot stones in treatments today can promote balance and harmony. The short term effect of the heat is extremely therapeutic resulting in faster relaxation and expulsion of toxins. Consequently, less force is needed to achieve the benefits of reflexology so a gentle touch is used for this treatment.
At Sole Encounters Reflexology, we use only basalt stones. Simply speaking, these are stones formed from cooled lava and tumbled over the years resulting in a smooth shape with excellent heat retention.
During the session, the reflexologist will concentrate on five critical reflex areas: head, spine, solar plexus, bowels, and heels. Finally, the warm stones will be placed strategically to balance the Chakras. The session ends with warm stones being placed between the toes and at the heels, your feet will be wrapped in a soft heavy towel and you will be left alone to relax while enjoying the warmth.

Vitality through Reflexes
Believed to have originated in Tibet thousands of years ago, eight (8) essential oils are applied to the central nervous system reflex points on the feet. Slight pressure from the fingers combined with a rolling motion produces an electric stimulation that is therapeutic to the body. The electrical energy that is produced during the technique transfers to the nerve pathways. When the energy encounters a blockage, it repairs the break in the pathway that is creating the imbalance in the body. Vita Flex combines these potent healing electromagnetic properties with the frequencies of essential oils to maximize the healing benefits to the body.
The following essential oils are used in this treatment:

Begin your session with a moisturizing paraffin treatment on your hands. Or end your session with a warm, soothing paraffin treatment on your feet.
Paraffin treatments are useful in symptomatic relief of pain caused by arthritis, bursitis, and chronic join inflammation.
The treatment relaxes muscles, relieves stiffness and muscle spasms, and stimulates circulation.
Prior to dipping your hands or feet in the paraffin bath, a hydrating cream will be applied to increase the skin softening benefit of this sumptuous experience.
This a luxurious treat that can be added on to your reflexology session.
Begin by soaking your feet in a warm bath of sea salt. While your feet soak, enjoy a soothing hand massage.
Following the foot bath, a sugar scrub will exfoliate your feet to remove dry skin.
Next, we will apply a mud masque to your feet to add nutrients and minerals to the skin.
Finally, a coordinating massage cream will be used during your reflexology session.

Reflexology is both an ancient science and a modern day complementary therapy. In addition to being a relaxing experience that relieves stress, reflexology also stimulates the blood and lymph systems promoting self healing. Reflexology has been known to bring relief for:

A typical session begins with a relaxing foot soak in your choice of Epsom salts. Coffee, tea, and water are available for your enjoyment. While your feet enjoy the detoxifying and stress relieving benefits of the Epsom salt, your reflexologist will massage your hands.
After removing your feet from the foot bath, you can recline in a zero gravity chair and listen to soothing music. Your reflexologist will use their hands to apply pressure and stimulate the thousands of nerve endings in your feet. Using both training and experience, your reflexologist will relax your body and, based on your needs, stimulate specific reflex areas to encourage your body to initiate self healing. Many people fall asleep during the session and wake up relaxed and refreshed. Some people even begin to feel relief during the session and others notice positive changes shortly after leaving the session.
Aroma therapy is also a part of your experience. For new clients, a blend of frankincense and lavender essential oils are diffused in the room to promote relaxation. And, your experience ends with peppermint essential oil massaged into the soles of your feet. For returning clients, your session is personalized with essential oils selected just for you based on your needs. (Of course, if you do not want this sensory experience, just let your reflexologist know when you schedule your appointment.)
